🔎 MiCA Prudential Requirements: What Amounts Are Needed for PSCA Authorization ?

Obtaining authorization as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (PSCA) under MiCA requires strict financial guarantees.

According to Article 67, each PSCA must justify a minimum capital requirement suited to its activity.

💡 Two criteria determine the required amount :

✔️ A permanent minimum capital, which varies based on the type of PSCA.

✔️ One-quarter of the previous year’s fixed overhead costs, recalculated annually based on approved financial statements.

👉 The higher amount between these two criteria will be retained.

1️⃣ Crypto-Asset Portfolio Managers

➡️ Discretionary and individualized management of portfolios including crypto-assets under mandate.

💶 Minimum capital: €50,000 or 1/4 of fixed overhead costs.

2️⃣ Crypto-Asset Exchange Providers

➡️ Buying/selling of cryptocurrencies without order books or advanced tools.

💶 Minimum capital: €125,000 or 1/4 of fixed overhead costs.

3️⃣ Crypto-Asset Trading Platforms

➡️ Exchange providers offering order books and advanced tools (stop-loss, APIs, interactive charts).

💶 Minimum capital: €150,000 or 1/4 of fixed overhead costs.

4️⃣ Crypto-Asset Custody and Administration

➡️ Storage and management of clients’ crypto-assets and private keys.
