French stablecoin accounts: preparing the 2026–2027 transition
A stablecoin position can remain economically unchanged while the accounting framework applied across two financial years changes. Finance teams need to explain that transition without presenting a reclassification as a purchase, sale or movement in token quantities.
The effective date is part of the analysis
Established rule. Article 9 of ANC Regulation 2026-01 distinguishes mandatory application for years beginning in 2027 from permitted early application. The opening date matters: accounts closed during 2027 do not automatically fall under the new regime.

Compare positions before comparing account numbers
BECTRA analysis. Establish the asset, attached rights, reporting entity and intended use first. A bridge between classifications should then distinguish changes in presentation from changes in the economic position.
A poorly explained transition can make an asset appear to have disappeared when it has moved to another category. Conversely, retaining an account number does not demonstrate that the accounting remains appropriate.
A reading example
Suppose, hypothetically, that a company holds the same token quantity at two reporting dates. A reviewer needs to separate a regulatory reclassification, a currency conversion effect and an actual portfolio transaction. Combining them into one unexplained movement would obscure the comparison.
Hypothetical numerical example: transferring a carrying amount of EUR80,000 between two asset captions gives −80,000 +80,000 =0 in total assets if measurement remains unchanged. That calculation does not establish that the transition has no other effects: measurement, previous differences and disclosures require separate review.
Judgment required. First-application effects depend on the applicable provisions and the characteristics of each position. There is no universal transition entry in this article.

A specific transition provision
Established rule. Article 9 also addresses situations where the intended use of rights to goods or services cannot be established retrospectively. Intent is then determined on first application and reclassification takes place in the opening balance sheet without changing the amount. This is a specific provision rather than a general exemption from transition analysis.
BECTRA can prepare a transition memorandum from the company’s contracts and trial balance: application timetable, rights inventory, separate classification and measurement effects, unresolved matters and information to prepare for the notes. This file concerns French statutory accounts; it does not import an IFRS conclusion.
Conclusion
A sound transition preserves the explanation of the position. Readers should understand why economically similar holdings may be presented differently after the reform.
